The most crazy Carnival

The most important popular festival of Solsona is the Carnival, which was declared a celebration of national tourist interest in 1983.  The typical carnival fancy dresses have been replaced here by colourful blouses. The “gegants bojos” (crazy giants), the hanging of the donkey and the satiric speech are some of the most peculiar elements of Solsona’s carniva

Solsona, who already celebrated Carnival before the Civil War, was the first State population to recover in 1971, despite being a holiday forbidden by the Franco dictatorship

Since then and until now, they have been more than 48 years old. Throughout this time, the solsonins  have been reconnecting the party until obtaining a set of acts of the solemn Carnival based on mockery and exaggeration. Proof of the elements such as the Crazy Giants, the Hanging of the Maple Donkey in the bell tower (pioneer among the rest of the people who also do it), the act of Figs, coca and white wine, Contradanses, Arrival of Sa Majesty the Carnival, the Children's Carnival .

Until today, Carnival has managed to become the most important celebration of the city and one of the city's identifying symbols, while at the same time achieving a mass socialization of the party, both locals and visitors of others Areas of the country, becoming a meeting and party for many people from different areas and from different generations.
