Hotel La Freixera
14th Century artisan house
Hotel la Freixera is located in the heart of Solsona's medieval centre and in the middle of Catalonia. The current building used to be two 14th century artisan houses located on a Gothic plot, which La Freixera's owners transformed into a beautiful 4-star hotel.
The house still retains medieval elements, such as its stone arches, the gallery on the main façade, the remains of carved capitals from the main window and other idiosyncrasies. Archaeological interventions on the building uncovered the medieval walls of collapsed houses and a medieval pavement from the Middle Ages. Some of these architectural elements can be found among the ten rooms, creating a special, authentic, elegant and historically charged atmosphere.
Its medieval charm and fantastic location make Hotel la Freixera a great choice for those who want to explore the Solsonès region. Discovering the Romanesque monasteries, the Baroque altarpieces and the sanctuaries located on strategic peaks make visiting the region an enriching experience. La Freixera's great location also allows its guests to stroll peacefully through the medieval centre of Solsona, explore bicycle routes and enjoy hiking as well as other sporting activities.
The most important thing about staying at the hotel la Freixera is its breakfast: Cold cuts, jams, mountain cheeses, local ‘pagés’ bread, coca de llauna and a great coffee. Breakfast as it used to be, with the luxury of being able to enjoy it at a leisurely pace.
Respect for the environment, sustainability and renewable energies, as well as using a biomass pellet boiler, are core values of the philosophy employed by La Freixera's management team.
